1. Who We Are

OwnPod ("we", "us", "our") is operated by Martin Zokov. If you have any questions about this policy, contact us at support@ownpod.app.

2. What We Collect

Account information

When you sign in, we receive your email address from your authentication provider (Apple or Google via Clerk). We store this to identify your account.

Preferences and content you provide

During onboarding and in settings you provide: podcast name, selected topics, content sources, narrator voice preference, and podcast length preference. We store these to personalize your daily episode.

Subscription information

We receive subscription status from RevenueCat (our subscription management provider) and store whether your subscription is active. We do not store your payment card details — Apple handles all billing.

Usage data

We store episode playback progress so your listening position is preserved across devices. We collect analytics events, error reports, and session data (including device type, browser, and anonymized IP address) via PostHog to understand how the App is used and to diagnose issues.

3. How We Use Your Data

• To generate and deliver your personalized daily podcast episode.
• To manage your account and subscription access.
• To restore your preferences and playback progress across devices.
• To communicate important service or account updates.
• To improve and develop the App.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services that process data on our behalf:

• Clerk — authentication and identity management. Processes your email address and sign-in tokens. Clerk Privacy Policy
• Convex — backend database and server functions. Stores your preferences, episode data, and playback state. Convex Privacy Policy
• RevenueCat — subscription management. Receives your subscription events from Apple and reports subscription status to us. RevenueCat Privacy Policy
• PostHog — product analytics and error tracking. Receives usage events, error reports, and session data. PostHog Privacy Policy
• xAI — AI story discovery and research. Receives selected topic names so we can find current public stories for your episodes. We do not send your email, payment details, sign-in credentials, or Apple account information to xAI.
• OpenRouter and model providers — AI text and image generation. Receives selected public story references, your podcast name if you provide one, episode length preference, generated episode scripts, titles, descriptions, and thumbnail prompts so we can create episode text and artwork. OpenRouter may route requests to the model provider selected for the relevant generation task.
• Fish Audio — AI text-to-speech generation. Receives the generated episode script and selected narrator voice so we can create the episode audio.
• Apple — payment processing for subscriptions. Apple's privacy policy applies to all App Store purchases.

5. AI Processing

OwnPod uses third-party AI services to generate personalized podcast episodes. Before generation begins, the App may use your selected topics, podcast name, delivery and length preferences, narrator voice preference, public story references, generated episode script, episode title, episode description, and thumbnail prompt to create your episode.

We share only the data needed for each generation step. Topic names may be sent to xAI for story discovery. Episode scripts and metadata may be sent through OpenRouter to text or image model providers to create scripts and artwork. Generated script text and narrator voice selection may be sent to Fish Audio to create audio.

We do not send your email address, payment details, sign-in credentials, Apple account information, or authentication tokens to these AI generation providers. These providers process data on our behalf to provide the App's episode generation features, and we require service providers to protect personal data with safeguards consistent with this Privacy Policy.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your data with third parties except as described in Sections 4 and 5 (service providers acting on our behalf) or as required by law.

7. Data Retention

We retain your account data and preferences for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate data.
• Request deletion of your account and personal data.
• Object to or restrict certain processing of your data.
• Data portability.

To exercise any of these rights, email support@ownpod.app. We will respond within 30 days.

9. Children's Privacy

OwnPod is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such data, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. Authentication tokens are stored in your device's secure keychain. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. We will notify you of material changes via the App or by email. The effective date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised.
